The unit will address the prevention, detection, assessment and management of diseases and environmental risks that may affect children and adolescents. Through its Research Institute, the Hospital is also leading an international study in Spain to reduce children's exposure to endocrine disruptors and assess their impact on child health.
A new study provides a powerful way to study infections in environments that closely mimic human organs. The strategy, tested in a bone-marrow-on-chip model, was developed by researchers from ISGlobal, IGTP, I3S at Porto University, and IN2UB, as part of the HIDDENVIVAX project, funded by "la Caixa" Foundation.

Nearly two hundred baccalaureate and vocational training students have taken part in a new edition of the activity "Open House: get to know the Can Ruti Campus up close", once again consolidating the campus's commitment to scientific outreach and to fostering vocations among young people.
IGTP has obtained funding for six projects, consolidating its trajectory in the field of biomedical and translational research on respiratory diseases. These projects, which address challenges such as tuberculosis, pulmonary fibrosis and legionellosis, represent the excellence and diversity of the research developed at the Can Ruti Campus.
The conference has been a meeting point and an opportunity to share strategies, knowledge and innovative projects that contribute to improving the health and quality of life of people affected by cancer. Pere Torán and Federico Fondelli, researchers affiliated with IGTP, have been recognised in the 2025 Research Awards.

The event gathered more than 200 researchers, reviewing the Institute's scientific trajectory and looking ahead to the future of research and innovation at the Can Ruti Campus.
Provides a new perspective: what matters is not only which previous diseases a person has, but also the order in which they appeared and how they interact. This approach makes it possible to identify risk profiles for long COVID that had not been detected until now. The research was conducted within the framework of the COVICAT study, coordinated in collaboration with ISGlobal.
A project led by the Germans Trias i Pujol University Hospital and Research Institute has developed an AI-based facial recognition system, AcroFace, capable of detecting early signs of acromegaly with 93% accuracy. The researchers are now conducting a larger pilot study with 4,000 images from the general population to confirm these promising results and improve early diagnosis of this rare disease.

The Institute has taken part in BIOSPAIN 2025, the leading biotechnology event in southern Europe, with the aim of strengthening its knowledge and technology transfer strategy, showcasing its innovation capabilities, and fostering new collaborations with companies, investors, and stakeholders across the biomedical ecosystem.
Researchers from the IGTP and HUGTiP have reviewed the current knowledge on the use of tear-derived extracellular vesicles as a source of biomarkers for both ocular and neurodegenerative diseases. They highlight the advantages of this approach compared with more invasive methods and discuss the remaining challenges for its clinical application.
