IGTP coordinates European project TB-SPECTRUM to advance understanding of the tuberculosis disease spectrum

IGTP has launched the European project TB-SPECTRUM, funded under the Horizon Europe programme through the MSCA Staff Exchanges scheme and coordinated by IGTP. A kick-off meeting held online brought together researchers, clinicians, and representatives from academic and non-academic institutions across Europe, Africa, and the United States, alongside members of the project's External Scientific and Ethics Advisory Boards.

A study links the protein HDAC11 as a key factor in muscle deterioration in Duchenne muscular dystrophy

A preclinical study led by IGTP, in collaboration with the Institut de Myologie and the IR Sant Pau, has analysed the role of the protein HDAC11 in Duchenne muscular dystrophy and its potential as a therapeutic target. The results of the study have been published in the journal Life Sciences.

A multidisciplinary work led by IGTP researchers has analysed the relationship between climatic conditions, the presence of Legionella in water systems and cases of Legionnaires' disease in Catalonia, revealing a link between these different factors.

The Barcelona City Council and ”la Caixa” Foundation fund a long COVID project with IGTP participation

The 2025 call for grants has funded 15 projects. One of them, led by the Fundació Lluita contra les Infeccions and involving the participation of IGTP, is called SuperCAP and focuses on improving the quality of life of people affected by long COVID.

Study identifies PARG as a new target to enhance chemotherapy in colorectal cancer

A study led by researchers from the Resistance, Chemotherapy and Predictive Biomarkers group at the IGTP, published in Clinical and Translational Medicine, provides new evidence on how to improve the efficacy of one of the most widely used chemotherapy combinations in clinical practice for the treatment of colorectal cancer: 5-fluorouracil and irinotecan (FUIRI).
