HR Excellence in Research

On 22 August 2019, IGTP received the "HR Excellence in research" award by EURAXESS, which allows the centre to use the HR Excellence logo.

The award reflects the commitment of IGTP to continuously improve its human resources policies in line with the European Charter for Researchers and the Code of Conduct for the Recruitment of Researchers, notably its commitment to fair and transparent recruitment procedures.

European Commission Strategy for Human Resources in Research (HRS4R)

The European Commission Strategy for Human Resources in Research (HRS4R) has the main objective of ensuring that research centres of excellence implement and respect the requirements of the European Charter for researchers and the Code of Conduct for hiring researchers (from here on referred to as the Charter and  Code) within their human resources policies.

This EC initiative aims to promote training, professional development and mobility for all European scientists. Adoption of the charter and code by European research centres will make movement in the European research zone easy and allow researchers to follow their careers within a European professional career structure.

The HRS4R Award

The European Commission HRS4R award is a dynamic certification system with five clear phases representing PROGRESS to QUALITY over 12 years.

IGTP is in the 3-phase implementation phase, which takes 5 years.

  1. The centre endorses the charter and code and applies for the award.  The centre prepares its gap analysis and an action plan. The EC evaluates the action plan and grants permission to use the logo. This stage takes one year.
  2. The centre implements the action plan and carries out an internal assessment after 2 years, revises the plan and after a further 3 years submits the results to the EC.
  3. External evaluation with a site visit.

IGTP and HRS4R

IGTP informed the Commission on 11 December 2017 that it was committed to applying the principles established in the Charter and Code in is human resource policy as far as it is legally able.

During 2018, IGTP constituted an HRS4R Committee, developed an OTM-R policy and prepared its Action Plan for submission to the EC.

The EC has accepted the action plan and recognized the IGTP as an institution working towards European Human Resource Excellence.

IGTP is working to implement its action plan and continues to work through the HRS4R process.
