This March, IGTP resumed the round of visits from La Marató de TV3 donors to its laboratories, as part of the Visita la recerca program, offering a closer look at the progress of funded research projects.
The SMA-TB project, an initiative coordinated by the Experimental Tuberculosis Unit (UTE) at IGTP and funded by the European Commission's H2020 programme, has reached its conclusion after five years of research aimed at improving tuberculosis treatments.
The innovation units and researchers of the Innomed program gathered at IGTP to launch the second edition of the GrowInn project incubator. The meeting provided an opportunity to share experiences from the first edition and define the new challenges and objectives for this year.

The IGTP, accredited as an Instituto de Investigación Sanitaria (IIS) - Health Research Institute - by Instituto de Salud Carlos III (ISCIII) and a CERCA centre of the Government of Catalonia, has secured three grants to fund nursing intensification contracts within the framework of the Strategic Plan for Health Research and Innovation (PERIS) 2022-2027.
In this year’s edition of #científiques, fourteen researchers from IGTP have shared their expertise in various schools and secondary schools across Catalonia, offering students a first-hand and inspiring insight into their work in biomedical research.
An open-door psychiatry project from (HUGTiP, IGTP and Qualud has led to the creation of RutiSafeNet, an innovative risk monitoring tool for patients with acute mental disorders. This solution enables nursing staff to visualise and analyse data in real time, facilitating quick and well-informed decisions to enhance safety.
The event, organised by the Ophthalmology Department of HUGTiP and IGTP, with the support of Societat Catalana d'Oftalmologia, featured various presentations and panel discussions with ophthalmologists and innovation experts, who shared their experiences and highlighted the importance of pioneering initiatives in eye health.
From 4 to 7 February, IGTP hosted a meeting of researchers from the "Hub de recherche communautaire de Can Ruti", a network that is part of IGTP's CORE program, with the participation of CEEISCAT-IGTP, Coalition Plus, and Fundació Sida i Societat. The event strengthened synergies between teams, reinforcing international collaboration in HIV and STI research.
