Once again, the names of around thirty renowned professionals - from the Hospital and the Germans Trias i Pujol Research Institute (IGTP), the Fight Infections Foundation, IrsiCaixa, the Josep Carreras Leukaemia Research Institute (IJC), and the Institut Català d'Oncologia (ICO) - appear on a global list of scientists who have achieved the highest impact through their publications and citations.
The IGTP is leading an innovative project on youth sexual health and participating in a second project funded by La Marató 2023, which has enabled the promotion of 26 research projects on sexual and reproductive health, led by 52 research teams. Yesterday, these teams received their awards at an event held at TV3. Of the funded projects, 10 are individual, and 16 are coordinated between two or more research centres.
IGTP has received grants for six research projects in two calls from the Spanish Research Agency, under the State Plan for Scientific and Technical Research and Innovation 2021-2023.
Debios Diagnostics aims to improve diagnostics for diseases of the urinary and reproductive systems through non-invasive testing, while HealthTech Innovations S.L. seeks to enhance operating room efficiency and safety by integrating advanced technology that supports nursing staff and optimises sterilisation processes.
The Spanish Ministry of Science, Innovation and Universities (MICIU) has awarded €1.7 million, and the European Commission an additional €466,000, to support the development of a gene therapy for Friedreich's ataxia by Biointaxis, a spin-off from IGTP.
The second CARE Workshop, held on 9-10 October, brought together more than 70 researchers from across the cancer research community at the Can Ruti Biomedical Campus for two days of scientific exchange. The event served as a platform for sharing the current cancer research being developed on the Campus and fostering stronger connections among researchers.
The organisations are collaborating on two studies in the field of severe Legionella infections and antibiotic resistance. Both projects have been presented by IGTP researchers within the framework of the "Scientific exchanges: join us" program, an initiative by Menarini to share progress and strengthen partnerships in research.
The European Commission has granted €2,999,101 in funding to the NanoBiCar project, coordinated by Universitat Politècnica de València, with the participation of the Germans Trias i Pujol Research Institute (IGTP). The grant falls within the EIC Pathfinder Program of the European Innovation Council (EIC), a highly competitive program aimed at identifying, developing, and scaling up breakthrough technologies and disruptive innovations.
The report compiles the institution's key numbers and objectives, as well as its research activities. For the first time, the report also includes a web version that summarises the most relevant aspects.
