The participation of the GCAT|Genomes For Life cohort in the CORDELIA consortium represents a strategic step to enhance and expand the impact of population research on the IGTP campus. This collaboration is part of the transversal CORE program, aimed at fostering innovative and translational research, implementing new knowledge in clinical practice, and improving population health.
IGTP has received grants for six research projects in two calls from the Spanish Research Agency, under the State Plan for Scientific and Technical Research and Innovation 2021-2023.
To mark World Diabetes Day and as part of the IA4T2D project, the GCAT|Genomes for Life team at Germans Trias i Pujol Research Institute (IGTP) has conducted interviews with leading scientists in the field of diabetes. Each expert shared valuable insights into the causes, challenges, and potential solutions for managing and preventing this widespread disease.

The Spanish Ministry of Science, Innovation and Universities (MICIU) has awarded €1.7 million, and the European Commission an additional €466,000, to support the development of a gene therapy for Friedreich's ataxia by Biointaxis, a spin-off from IGTP.
The organisations are collaborating on two studies in the field of severe Legionella infections and antibiotic resistance. Both projects have been presented by IGTP researchers within the framework of the "Scientific exchanges: join us" program, an initiative by Menarini to share progress and strengthen partnerships in research.
The European Commission has granted €2,999,101 in funding to the NanoBiCar project, coordinated by Universitat Politècnica de València, with the participation of the Germans Trias i Pujol Research Institute (IGTP). The grant falls within the EIC Pathfinder Program of the European Innovation Council (EIC), a highly competitive program aimed at identifying, developing, and scaling up breakthrough technologies and disruptive innovations.

To keep weight in check, it is not only important to consider what we eat, but also the times at which we eat. According to a study published in the International Journal of Behavioral Nutrition and Physical Activity, there are two specific habits that are associated with a lower body mass index (BMI) in the long term: keeping a longer overnight fast and eating breakfast early. This research was led by ISGlobal and was carried out in collaboration with the GCAT cohort from IGTP.
DevsHealth, a leading company in artificial intelligence (AI) driven drug discovery, and the Germans Trias i Pujol Research Institute (IGTP), a public research centre in biomedical sciences, have announced a new partnership to develop new antibiotics for multi-resistant Staphylococcus aureus infections.
As a strategic initiative under IGTP, GCAT (Genomes for Life) continues to make substantial contributions to public health knowledge. The latest GCAT study, conducted through the COVICAT initiative, signed by Ximena Goldberg and Rafael de Cid, sheds light on the complex interplay between genetic predispositions and environmental stressors in determining depression risk, especially during the COVID-19 lockdown.
