An international study of childhood liver cancer led by the IGTP provides new clues about its biology to improve clinical management of the disease

The Childhood Liver Oncology Research Group (C-Log) led by Carolina Armengol has published results in the context of the European project ChiLTERN which aims to improve the clinical treatment of paediatric hepatoblastoma (HB), a rare disease that mostly affects children under three. The results have been published in the Journal of Hepatology.

The IGTP promotes science for high-school students at the celebration of the 24th Science Week at Can Ruti

This week the IGTP and other centres hosted the “Can Ruti Open Door Session” within Science Week in Badalona; the Science Week is a national event organized by the Spanish Foundation for Science and Technology (FECYT). This year nearly 200 high school students from various educational centres have visited the research facilities at nine different organizations on the Can Ruti Campus and learned about studies taking place there.

The IGTP shares its research projects for European Researchers’ Night

For the first time the IGTP has participated in the European Researchers' Night, part of the European Commission's Horizon 2020 Programme, which aims bring scientists and society together. Five researchers from the institute have participated in science popularization events.

The IGTP is a partner in an international project to improve personalized treatments for childhood cancer using artificial intelligence tools

This year the Childhood Liver Oncology Group (c-LOG) led by Carolina Armengol was one of 21 prestigious International partners from 11 countries joining in the Individualized Paediatric Cure (iPC) Project.  The project has 15 million euros funding for four years and is led by IBM in Switzerland and Technikon in Austria.

Can Ruti shows it cares for rare diseases

The IGTP and the Germans Trias Hospital face the spotlight for rare diseases again.  This year our professionals are joining World Rare Disease Day on the last day of February to highlight these diseases and shine a light on the research activities in the field on campus.

The IGTP leads the biological and pathological studies in an international clinical trial focused on child and adolescent liver tumours

It is the first and largest international clinical trial ever in this type of patients. IGTP researchers coordinate what is going to be a unique collection in Europe of biological samples for this segment of patients, and will lead the posterior studies. Liver cancer in children is classified as a rare diseases and, in Spain, 15 cases are diagnoses every year.

Aquest dimecres 15 de novembre més de 200 alumnes de centres de Badalona han visitat les institucions del Campus Can Ruti en el marc de la Setmana de la Ciència. L’IGTP és un dels impulsors d’aquesta jornada de portes obertes en el marc de la Setmana de la Ciència, a Badalona.
