European Commission’s drive to launch a medical device created in the Hospital and the Germans Trias i Pujol Research Institute to improve the diagnosis and prognosis of the acute ischaemic stroke
The care and treatment provided to people who suffer an ischemic stroke can improve thanks to a technology developed in Catalonia. This is the purpose of Time is Brain (TiB), a start-up that arose from a scientific project carried out by the Hospital and the Germans Trias i Pujol Research Institute (IGTP), which has just received an investment by the European Union of almost 6 million euros in order for the hospitals to count on a pioneering device to manage acute ischaemic stroke.
The European Commission has granted two projects to the IGTP within the HORIZON programme, which add up to a total of 1,670,346 euros in funding and deal with the preclinical development of immunotherapies.
The Germans Trias i Pujol Research Institute (IGTP) and the Germans Trias Hospital participate in the HEAL project, which is funded through the Erasmus+ programme. HEAL is an ambitious project aimed at reformulating the way clinical internships currently take place in hospitals.
- Timely diagnosis is crucial to detect chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), an underdiagnosed entity in 75% of cases
- Breaz is developing a fast and precise testing device to improve the diagnosis and prognosis of this respiratory disease
The Germans Trias i Pujol Research Institute (IGTP) and the Germans Trias Hospital have taken part for the first time in the Erasmus+ Programme with an ambitious project aimed at digitalizing student stays at the centre. The 4D Digitalisation of Learning Project aims to design mobile technology that improves learning for students taking a nursing degree an improve the communication between the healthcare centre and the university to enrich the student experience.
The IGTP spin-off has developed a medical device to improve the diagnosis of acute ischaemic stroke. This is the second investment made within the BStartup Health Call for which 121 start-ups applied.
The device will identify possible obstructions in stents quickly and non-invasively. Nimble is a spin-off company of the Germans Trias i Pujol Research Institute (IGTP), the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya (UPC) and the University of Barcelona (UB).
