On 11 December, IGTP celebrated its 30th anniversary with an institutional and Christmas event that brought together professionals from across the Institute in a space for recognition, remembrance, and looking ahead to the future.
The conference has been a meeting point and an opportunity to share strategies, knowledge and innovative projects that contribute to improving the health and quality of life of people affected by cancer. Pere Torán and Federico Fondelli, researchers affiliated with IGTP, have been recognised in the 2025 Research Awards.
The event gathered more than 200 researchers, reviewing the Institute's scientific trajectory and looking ahead to the future of research and innovation at the Can Ruti Campus.
IGTP strengthens its commitment to excellence in innovation management and consolidates its position as a leading research centre with the attainment of the international ISO 56001 certification. This milestone recognises the implementation of a consolidated innovation management system aligned with international standards.

The agreement between Boehringer Ingelheim and IGTP builds on a collaboration that began in 2020 to improve understanding of cardio-renal-metabolic diseases and their interconnection, and now includes the development of a new line of research to assess the potential of novel molecules in this field.
The Internal Scientific Advisory Board of IGTP concluded 2024 with increased activity and several updates to its composition and functioning. This key advisory body in the institute's scientific planning held ten meetings throughout the year, strengthening its involvement in institutional initiatives.
The Mayor of Badalona, Xavier Garcia Albiol, has paid an official visit to the Institut Català d'Oncologia (ICO) in Badalona, located within the Hospital Universitari Germans Trias i Pujol building. The visit was attended by the director of the IGTP, Jordi Barretina.
The VII Can Ruti Women for Equity in Science Symposium brought together research and healthcare professionals to discuss the need for a broader gender perspective in these fields. Under the title Exploring a Wider Gender Perspective, the event focused on how gender diversity can be better integrated into biomedical research and healthcare, highlighting the importance of a more inclusive approach in generating scientific knowledge.
