Mireia Belmonte presents her new watch in support of Campus Can Ruti

Mireia Belmonte the Olympic swimming medallist from Badalona visited the Germans Trias i Pujol Research Institute (IGTP) on Campus Can Ruti on Wednesday 29 May. The event marked the start of a collaboration in support of the Amics de Can Ruti (Friends of Can Ruti) to raise awareness of the importance of health research. During her visit, she presented a watch, which she helped to design, that will soon be available through the web and events organized by the Amics de Can Ruti. All proceeds from the sales of the watch will go to research projects on the campus.

Participants in the GCAT Project take a look behind the scenes

How do they do it?  How do they get genetic information from a blood sample?  How do you manage the genetic information of 20,000 people? How do you get to understand all this information so it can be used for research?  These are some of the questions asked by GCAT participants while visiting the National Centre for Genomics Analysis- Centre for Genomic Regulation (CNAG-CRG) and Barcelona Supercomputing Centre (BSC), both centres are collaborating with the project.  These questions now have answers.

Can Ruti gets the debate going on Women in Science

To coincide with the International Day of Women and Girls in Science on 11 February, the IGTP will hold its first workshop dedicated to the reality for women on the campus. The event is organized by the Working Group Women in Science made up of representatives of diverse institutions on the Can Ruti Campus. During the morning the directors of different centres on the campus will sign a declaration of intentions based on the recommendations of the United Nations to promote equal opportunities and the scientific career path for women.

The "la Marató de TV3" funds 36 biomedical projects for research into infectious diseases

The funds collected in the 2017 edition of "La Marathon de TV3" and "Catalunya Ràdio" fundraiser will pay for 36 top-ranked biomedical research projects on infectious diseases with the aim of creating new tools for diagnostics and prevention and more efficient treatments to provide more years of quality life for patients.  The 55 researchers who will carry out the research received their certificates today in an event that took place on Tuesday in the Catalan and Balearic Island Academy of Medical Sciences and Health.  Two of these projects will be carried out at the Germans Trias i Pujol Research Institute (IGTP) on the Can Ruti Campus.

The second edition of HEALTHIO, a trade fair for health and innovation at the Fira de Barcelona, was held on 16-18 October.  It brought together members of the public, health professionals and innovative small companies in an open space designed to promote dialogue between all the players in the healthcare ecosystem and promote evolution of the sector.

Can Ruti Campus presents an international seminar series on biomedical research

The IrsiCaixa AIDS Research Institute, the Josep Carreras Leukaemia Research Institute (IJC) and the Germans Trias i Pujol Research Institute (IGTP) have presented the Can Ruti Research Seminar Series 2018-2019. Eleven prestigious speakers from different fields of research will give seminars during the academic year on a range of health research topics of interest to scientists, doctors and students from all the institutions on the campus.
