IGTP's 2025 Report includes a year marked by the 30th anniversary and the consolidation of scientific activity

The Germans Trias i Pujol Research Institute (IGTP) has published its 2025 Annual Report, which brings together the Institute's activities, key indicators and main achievements during a particularly significant year, marked by the celebration of its 30th anniversary. The publication provides a comprehensive overview of the Institute and highlights the commitment of its professionals to biomedical research aimed at generating knowledge, promoting innovation and contributing to improving people's health.

The publication dedicates a prominent section to the 30th anniversary, with dedicated pages looking back at the Institute's journey and the videos and events held throughout 2025 to mark the occasion. As Dr Jordi Barretina, director general of IGTP, explains, "celebrating 30 years has provided an opportunity to appreciate its journey, recognise the collective effort that has shaped IGTP and to reaffirm its future direction. In a context of increasing complexity in health and research, continued collaboration, strategic investment and the capacity to translate knowledge into solutions remain key priorities".

Beyond the anniversary, the report reflects another year of institutional consolidation and progress. In 2025, IGTP continued to implement its 2023-2027 Strategic Plan, consolidating its scientific platforms, strengthening its cross-cutting scientific programmes and promoting clinical research activity. It also continued to strengthening its innovation ecosystem, with the second year of the Innomed program and the growth of its project portfolio, with the aim of promoting the transfer of research results into applications with impact on health.

The report also highlights the solidity of IGTP's activity in competitive funding calls and national and international collaborative networks, as well as the institute's commitment to training and talent development, responsible research, equal opportunities and sustainability. It also covers some of the main institutional visits received during the year, including representatives from public administrations and the research system.

Alongside these milestones, the 2025 Annual Report includes the usual indicators on scientific activity, innovation and knowledge transfer, scientific and technical platforms, funding, human resources, communication and outreach, providing a global picture of IGTP's activity throughout the year. Key figures include 1,110 scientific publications, 366 active projects and 986 active clinical studies, 101 events organised and 5 patents granted.

As Dr Barretina notes, "the progress achieved would not be possible without the dedication of the institute's professionals and collaborators, whose work continues to reinforce IGTP's position in the research and healthcare system". Dr Júlia García-Prado, scientific director, adds that "looking ahead, IGTP will continue to strengthen its scientific strategy by fostering collaboration and promoting research that addresses societal needs, while maintaining a clear focus on impact to solve health challenges".
