Germans Trias i Pujol University Hospital (HUGTIP), Germans Trias i Pujol Research Institute (IGTP), and the Digital Health Hub have signed an agreement to promote technological innovation and its transfer to the healthcare sector. It aims to leverage the synergies between the three entities to create a solid collaboration network that facilitates the exchange of knowledge and technology, streamlines the use of available resources, develops innovation projects, accelerates the validation of technological solutions and promotes joint research and training activities.

Oscar Garcia-Esquirol, vice president of Digital Health Hub and medical director, stresses that “this collaboration is key to the transfer of knowledge and innovation to the healthcare sector, facilitating the adoption of digital solutions that improve both the efficiency of services and the quality of life of patients”. Also, Eva Rosell, CEO of Digital Health Hub, highlights that “this public-private agreement marks a turning point in the way we join forces to transform digital health from Barcelona to the world, especially at a time when the health system faces unprecedented challenges to manage the growing demands of citizens”..

For Daniel Moreno, head of Innovation at Germans Trias Hospital, the centre aims to be part of the major innovation forums, and believes that an agreement of these characteristics “will contribute to the fact that the Can Ruti Campus continues to be one of the most important in Catalonia”. “We have to be close to what is happening in Barcelona”, adds Moreno, who is confident that this agreement will help the Hospital to "establish collaborations to validate new technologies in care and research".

Jordi Barretina, director general of the IGTP, underlines the importance of the alliance: "This agreement reinforces our commitment to innovation and knowledge transfer, which are essential to transform research results into real solutions that improve people's health. It is an opportunity to join forces and take advantage of the capabilities of the Can Ruti Campus and the Barcelona Health Hub". Raül Zurita, head of Innovation and Business Development at the Institute, adds: "Collaborating with entities such as the Barcelona Health Hub allows us to accelerate the development of technological solutions that respond to the real needs of the healthcare sector. This stable framework for working together demonstrates our commitment to advancing knowledge and applied research".

The agreement was signed on Thursday, 23 January at the headquarters of Barcelona Health Hub, which is located at the Recinte Modernista de Sant Pau. Present at the signing of the agreement were Daniel Moreno Martinez, head of the Innovation Unit of the Germans Trias Hospital, Oscar Garcia-Esquirol, Vice President and Medical Director of Digital Health Hub, Eva Rosell, CEO of Digital Health Hub, Jordi Barretina, Director General of IGTP and Raül Zurita, Head of Innovation and Transfer of IGTP.
