- Innovation

The Germans Trias i Pujol Research Institute (IGTP) and the Germans Trias Hospital have taken part for the first time in the Erasmus+ Programme with an ambitious project aimed at digitalizing student stays at the centre. The 4D Digitalisation of Learning Project aims to design mobile technology that improves learning for students taking a nursing degree an improve the communication between the healthcare centre and the university to enrich the student experience.

The Erasmus+ Programme, which finances projects in Europe that promote teaching excellence from different perspectives, is not only aimed at facilitating an exchange of students, and teaching and research staff but also at changing the model and teaching curriculum throughout Europe.

The total funding for the project is 377,840 euros and at Germans Trias it will be led from the area of Development and Research for Nursing Management by Cristina Casanovas, Deputy Director of Nursing and the clinical nurse Ariadna Huertas. They will have the support of the Innovation Unit at the hospital and Sandra Fernández of the Projects Unit at the IGTP.

Daniel Moreno, Head of the Innovation Unit at the hospital underlines that fact that, "this is the first Erasmus+ the hospital and the IGTP have taken part in. From the Innovation Unit we are delighted to be working on innovation in teaching and that our hospital is a key player in training the healthcare professionals of the future. It is a privilege to take part in this project."

The participation of Germans Trias is through the consortium coordinated by Technocampus Mataró, along with Graz University (Austria), The Faculty of Health Sciences of the University of Lublin (Poland), the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Duisburg-Essen (Germany), the University of Twente (Holland) and the technical company Kubify. 4D started activities on 31 March in Mataró, with a meeting of the European partners.
