The Comparative Medicine and Bioimage Centre (CMCiB) open for business
- The Director of the Germans Trias I Pujol Research Institute (IGTP), Manel Puig and the Director of the Instituto de Salud Carlos III, Raquel Yotti have put their formal seal on the starting up of the Comparative Medicine and Bioimage Centre of Catalonia (CMCiB)
- The CMCiB is a centre built on the Can Ruti Campus by the IGTP with the aim of being a reference centre for comparative medicine, bioimaging and computational models and a pioneer in applying alternative methods for biomedical research that impacts on the healtho the population
- The facilities of the centre include latest generation operating theatres that are adaptable for continued training, perfecting new surgical techniques and development of new surgical devices
The Director of the Germans Trias I Pujol Research Institute (IGTP), Manel Puig and the Director of the Instituto de Salud Carlos III, Raquel Yotti today formalized the starting up of the the the Comparative Medicine and Bioimage Centre of Catalonia (CMCiB). Located on the Can Ruti Campus, dedicated to health research, the CMCiB is cleverly integrated into the natural environment within the Serralada de Marina Natural Park. It is a high quality multidisciplinary technological centre for biomedical research and professional training for health staff. A wide range of research projects are carried out at the CMCiB, from pre-clinical to clinical research, investigation into new methods for the computational analysis of images, refining surgical procedures, developing new medical devices and new methods of carrying out surgery. All this takes place in the context of the promotion of bioethics and the application of the policy of 3Rs; reducing, refining and replacing animal models in biomedical research.
