GCAT-CARE: Mapping the Cancer Landscape from Population to Mechanism

Dr Rafael de Cid & Dr Xavier Farre

GCAT-IGTP

Host: CARE Program

Date and time: | 14:30-15:30

Venue: Sala Polivalent, IGTP Mar and online

The talk will begin with an introduction to GCAT|Genomes for Life, a large-scale population cohort designed to study the genetic and environmental basis of complex diseases, highlighting its infrastructure and the potential of genomic, epidemiological and clinical data for translational research.

This will be followed by an integrated overview of the cancer landscape within GCAT and the main ongoing projects under GCAT-CARE, showing how the combination of epidemiology and molecular analysis advances the identification of risk factors, biomarkers and biological mechanisms of cancer, linking the population perspective with the mechanistic one.

The Translational Cancer Seminars of the CARE Program at the IIS IGTP aim to promote dialogue between groups from different disciplines to strengthen translational research and its impact on clinical practice.

Sessions pair basic and clinical researchers working on common problems in a specific type of cancer to increase problem solving. They aim to consolidate knowledge and synergies to speed the development of advances in prevention, diagnosis and treatment.

The CARE Program Translational Cancer Seminars are a space for groups from the IIS IGTP to meet, share and learn together with clear scientific objectives in mind. Seminars include internal and external speakers who provide expert input on specific topics.
