JOB DESCRIPTION:

We are looking for a highly motivated technician with a strong interest in Cancer Genetics and Epigenetics Research.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCIE:

The applicant must have the following qualifications:

  • University degree in Life Sciences (Biology, Biomedicine, Biotechnology, Biochemistry, Chemistry,  Genetics, etc), or Certificate of Higher Education (ciclo formativo de grado superior / formación profesional de segundo grado) in Clinical / Biomedical Laboratory.

  • Under 30 years of age (age limit is imposed by the Agaur Investigo Programme, see below)

  • Organized, hard-working, eager to learn new skills and take responsabilities.

  • Excellent interpersonal skills

  • Wet-lab experience in:

- DNA/RNA purification, quality control and quantification by spectrophotometry

- PCR / QPCR

- Gel electrophoresis

  • Wet-lab experience in the following techniques will be highly considered:

- Cell culture

- DNA sequencing

- Bisulfite DNA treatment and DNA methylation analyses

- Molecular cloning

- Microscopy

- Western-blot

- Tissue dissection and staining

- Immunohistochemistry

  • Please indicate experience in programming languages and statistical software (Phyton, Perl, Java, R, Matlab, Prism, etc).

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES:

The specific tasks will be:

  • Purification, quantification and quality control of DNA from human tumour samples

  • Managing a large retrospective cancer tissue and DNA collection

  • Analysis of oncogenic mutations by PCR

  • Anlaysis of DNA methylation by bisulfite sequencing

  • Cell culture of human cancer cell lines

  • Preparation and staining of cancer tissue slides   

WHAT WE OFFER:

  • Gross annual remuneration according to the amount awarded by the Agaur Investigo Prorgramme, distributed in 12 payments per year (see below).
