The 10th Research Symposium of the Catalan Health Institute (ICS) and the 11th Research Symposium of the Primary Health Care Research Institute (IDIAP) Jordi Gol were held jointly on 7 June 2018. The central theme of the event was the use of large clinical data bases to carry out research to improve health.

The TV3 La Marató Foundation has published the results of the cancer research supported by Funds from the marathon campaign of 2012. Of the 79 research groups who participated in 42 projects financed by this edition of the programme three are from the IGTP.
The 2018 Fun Run for Minority Diseases doubles its money with twice as many competitors as last year
The seventh edition of the Charity Fun Run for Minority Paediatric Diseases was a resounding success this year, with twice as many runners as 2017. In all 700 participants completed the different routes and enjoyed a family fun day in Badalona.
Today and during all of this week reusable water bottles will be on sale at three supermarkets of the Sorli chain in Badalona. Funds from the sales will support research into kidney disease. The event is part of the celebration of World Kidney Day, which takes place on 8 March.

Dr. García Prado, leader of the Viral Immune Evasion and Vacciones (VIRIEVAC) at the IrsiCaixa AIDS Research Institute will combine the new position with the leadership of her group, focused on the design of new strategies against HIV. Tanya Vavouri, researcher at the IGTP and Josep Carreras Leukemia Research Institute is one of the nominees for the Vanguardia de la Ciencia award, for the study showing that environment affects genetics and can be retained for generations. The vote is open to everyone, scientist or not, until February 28.
A trial in advanced colorectal cancer opens the door to a future blood test to predict the most efficient treatment for reducing metastasis
The study, published in 'Annals of Oncology' aimed to demonstrate that choosing the treatment regime based on genetic variants could improve the prognosis of patients with advanced colorectal cancer. Although this primary objective was not achieved, the trial did show that a blood test can be used to predict the most efficient treatment to reduce metastasis.
