Ana Gámez awarded the Pioner 2018 Award

Ana Gamez has been awarded one of the 2018 Pioner Awards from the CERCA Institute (Research Centres of Catalonia).  The aim of the prize is to recognize and highlight researchers who have just read their thesis and whose results have a clear commercial orientation.

The prize was presented by Lluís Rovira, Director of the Institute CERCA, in a celebration in Barcelona this Thursday.  Gámez prepared her doctoral thesis at the IGTP under the direction of Dr Katrin Beyer and Dr Francesc Borràs.  With her thesis: Characterization of dementia with Lewy bodies: identification of specific bio-signatures from blood for the differential diagnosis of dementia with Lewy bodies, which she read last September, she received a doctorate in Neuroscience, graded excellent cum laude.

This year has seen the 5th edition of the Pioner prizes, they represent acknowledgement of the first stages of a career in scientific research, which usually start with a doctoral thesis.  The award is to recognize potential technological transfer of research results, which are both scientifically excellent and have a possible industrial and commercial value.  In the 2018 edition, along with Ana Gámez, Carlos Abellan (ICFO), Andrea Duane (CTFC) and Jemis Parmar (IBEC) also received Pioner awards.
