Infecto-Immuno-Inflammation

This line includes projects on diseases where inflammation plays a central pathogenic role, no matter what their etiology is.

Cancer

Although oncological diseases could be included in the previous line, as inflammation also plays a role in cancer development, it was agreed that they have enough personality to be included in an independent line.

Technology applied to Biomedicine (biotechnology, bioengineering, bioinformatics)

To innovate in technology and to exploit the generated knowledge are essential elements for the progress of biomedicine. In addition, several teams in the IGTP have projects on such areas. For all these reasons, a research line by its own has been defined.

Public Health and Clinical and Molecular Epidemiology.

A major activity in these fields amongst the IGTP’s research teams, and those in the Primary Care centres were identified. The applicability of this type of research in clinical diagnosis and therapeutics make necessary to define it as a major research line.

Clinical Innovation and Healthcare Services.

Several teams are devoted to innovative activity in protocols for clinical management and therapy, as well as to optimise healthcare services. Such an activity is seen as highly valuable and applicable to Biomedicine.
