LIRAD (Immunobiology Laboratory for Research and Diagnostic Applications)

All LIRAD personnel are involved in research and, in addition, we have a special team made up of researchers: PhD graduates, pre-doctoral scholarship holders and technicians who carry out ten research projects financed by highly respected Catalan (Marató), Spanish (FIS, CICYT and Genoma España), European (Fifth and Sixth Framework Programme) and US (Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation International) research bodies. All this has led to our recognition as a consolidated DGR-DURSI research group.

Our research areas are:

• Clinical and experimental tolerance and immunotherapy.
• Development and innovation of diagnostic and molecular immunology.
• Clinical and epidemiological research in diagnostic immunology, transplants and immunogenetics.

Mucosa Immunology lab

This lab is interested in identifying and defining the nature of protective responses against mucosal infections and to determine how to induce and evaluate effective vaccine-mediated immune responses with specially emphasis on female repodructive tract.
