GENOMICS UNIT

The IGTP (“Germans Trias i Pujol Health Sciences Research Institute”, Badalona, Spain) Genomics Department’s main objective is to provide technical assistance and support, most particularly to the Germans Trials i Pujol University Hospital staff but also to the rest of the national scientific community that might be interested and require its services in the genomic area.

The genomics department offers the researchers a series of services such as sequencing and DNA fragment analysis, real-time quantitative PCR reactions, etc. The department’s staff mainly provide such services but can additionally develop and perfect new methodologies in that field.

Available services:

Sequencing and DNA fragment analysis:
Sequencing reactions on different genetic material, such as PCR products, plasmids or cosmids.
Sequencing reaction resolution and reading with multi capillary system.
Previously marked PCR product size resolution, such as micro satellites.

Real-time quantitative PCR:
Experimental design assessing
Real time quantitative PCR development
Data analysis

Available equipment:

Capillary electrophoresis gene analyser ABI Prism 3100 – Avant (Applied Biosystems), equipped with four 50 cm capillaries (possibility for other configurations: matrix, polymers and reading length).
7900 HT Fast real-time PCR system (Applied Biosystems), a real-time quantitative PCR system with a capacity for 96 samples and 4 fluorphorese simultaneous reading.
Roche LightCycler 1.0 thermocycler, for real-time PCR, with 3 wave length reading (530, 640 and 605), and possible simultaneous use of 3 probes per sample.
Nanodrop ND-1000, UV-Vis 220 to 750nm spectrophotometer.
UV Transiluminator, Bio-Rad Universal Hood, with image digitalization in Quantity One software.
Applied Biosystems 2720 thermo-cyclers.
Stratagene UV Stratalinker 1800
